Yogananda’s predictions for the future

Question

Yogananda had forecast about Russia and Americ,.and things about Russia came to be true? Did Master tell about America, that it will be divided? What is the future of America?

—Hemant, India

Answer

Dear Hemant,

Master, to the best of my knowledge, never predicted that America would become two or more countries. Or, by the term “divided,” perhaps you mean at odds with itself, as in Democrat vs Republican? In this sense, all countries experience differences of opinions.

Swami Kriyananda spoke often about Master’s predictions. As it relates to America, he predicted that America, owing to unbridled materialism, would suffer an economic depression far worse than the 1930’s. He said that at that future time “money wouldn’t be worth the paper its printed on.” There would be great material suffering but in the American people would become more spiritually minded.

He said that America would not enter a “world” war because of its economic devastation but that later, once largely recovered, America would find itself at war again but would emerge victorious owing to good karma.

Master predicted that India and America would lead humanity into Dwapara Yuga: each contributing its special gifts: India, spiritual wisdom and God-consciousness, and America, its organizational efficiency and knowledge of science and nature. He encouraged us to take the best of East and West just as Swami Sri Yukteswar advised to his disciple, Paramhansa Yogananda, in 1920 as his disciple was preparing to go to the West.

Blessings!
