Blessings!
I am a SRF student and mother of a young son. I was wondering what the appropriate age is for teaching meditation to children?
Thank you for your response!

Hello Sarah,
Sharing meditation, and spirituality in general, with children is a wonderful service to the next generation.
As with many things, modeling is the best teacher; so having a good routine yourself and sharing the benefits of peace and joy will create a curiosity and interest on your son’s part. When children are younger, it’s best to share practices together through deep relaxations, chanting, stories, and prayers. Formal meditation techniques like Hong-Sau are best left for the time when the child asks a question like, “How do you meditate?”
We have a website at www.edforlife.org that provides many materials and ideas on sharing spirituality with children.
