Answer

Dear Vaibhav,

I suggest you read about the examples of disciple guru relationships in Paramhansa Yogananda’s book, Autobiography of a Yogi, and in Swami Kriyananda’s book, The New Path.

A soul is drawn to one’s destined guru when one’s soul calls with deep yearning for spiritual guidance and direction. If you pray deeply for a true guru, the guru will come to you in a human body or perhaps as Yogananda and other great Master’s now do, without form.

Yogananda stated to disciples that he was Arjuna and Babaji was his guru as Lord Krishna in a former incarnation. In his incarnation as Yogananda, Sri Yukteswar was his guru. Thus we can conclude, a soul may have more than one guru though probably in the same line of gurus. It appears these Masters have been serving together for the redemption of mankind in numerous incarnations.

My advice to you is to pray earnestly for a true guru and you will be drawn to your beloved guru’s grace and guidance. In the meantime, fill yourself with the wisdom of Yogananda’s teachings and see if you aren’t drawn to them. You can trust he will facilitate your soul’s evolution and guide you to your guru.
