Answer

Overcoming Negative Circumstance

Thank you S.

Paramhansa Yogananda’s foremost woman disciple, Sister Gyanamata, said, “Change no circumstance, change me.” This is a very important attitude on the spiritual path, for we cannot always change our circumstance. Nor can we truly blame our circumstance. The Masters are born in difficult times and magnificently employ this very attitude in order to help us. In fact, they have the power to change circumstance but honor our free will that we might, like them, choose to rise above the situation. What drains us the most is wrong attitude, wrong consciousness. As Swami Kriyananda said, “We need to learn to think, see, feel, differently.” Try to see your life in the context of service to others. Do what you can to help and learn to do it freely, without attachment, nor the desire to be applauded by the world. In any situation, we can learn to channel love and harmony. That is the real test. That is real life career. If you build your faith in this truth, you will find yourself beginning to relax around this issue and feel inspiration and joy in your life and in your heart.

Joy to you, Nayaswami Maria
