Being new to spiritualism Im confused about some things.I believ im a good person but I have done some things that i knew i shouldn’t be doing at the time & were wrong, yet i did them anyway. i recognize I was wrong&working on being better every day now.i won’t ever do it again. Answer

Dear Louise,

As I understand it, you are asking, “Will my karma be good enough to go to a comfortable place after death even though I have willingly done some things I knew were wrong at the time I did them?”

To give a brief answer to your question, our actions don’t exactly dictate where we go when we leave the body at death. We are drawn to one of God’s many “mansions,” as Christ refers to them in the Bible, by the CONSCIOUSNESS we have at the time of death. With this in mind, one’s actions typically reflect ones consciousness and they are related but not the same. God listens to your heart and your soul’s aspirations. Will you be loving God at the moment of your transition from the body? This is the goal!

I encourage you to learn more about how to uplift your consciousness by studying the Ananda Course in Self-Realization and reading Yogananda’s book on Karma and Reincarnation. Also read the Autobiography of a Yogi and The New Path to appreciate a deeper understanding of this very important question.

Many blessings to you in your quest for spiritual awakening!
