Suggestion for the Best Sequence of Meditation Techniques

Question

OmGuru, I do meditate regularly but often i am confused rather not sure whether my technique is correct. Sometimes i concentrate at chakras one by one from down moving upwards energising them chanting Aum, sometimes i practice Hong su, sometimes i concentrate at spiritual eye, sometimes i feel breathless, sometimes chanting mantras or sometimes combinations of above. I meditate for 2 hrs in a day 1 hr in morning and 1 hr in evening. Do get unintended spiritual experience but am i on right track?

Answer

Dear Bushan,

It sounds as though you are doing all the right things, so far. Are you doing these techniques in preparation for initiation into Kriya Yoga?

If so, I’d suggest that you stick to a fairly stable order of doing them on most days (it’s OK to vary it a bit from time to time).

Practice the Energization Exercises first, then prayer and a chant if you like, and then the Hong-Sau technique for at least 15 minutes and the AUM technique for another 15 minutes. Then sit in the silence for the remainder of your one hour session, enjoying the peaceful effects of the techniques.

If you stick to this routine for a year and have Discipleship Initiation and have studied the Ananda Course in Self-Realization, then you will be eligible to receive initation into Paramhansa Yogananda’s Kriya Yoga technique.
