How to Say an Affirmation


What is the correct way to say affirmation?For how many days should I say a particular affirmation?My friend tells me that I need to say it 21 times 21 days at a stretch.Also,she told me I can say in anytime while traveling or lying down etc.Is it true?

Thanks for your question. Your friend is right. That is one way to do affirmations, and, of course, it is very helpful to have positive thoughts throughout the day. And it can be helpful to embrace a new direction for 21 days to help it to become a habit. These are good suggestions but they are not the only method of practicing affirmations.

Paramhansa Yogananda taught a method of takings one’s affirmations to a very deep level. When this is done properly, it can be life-changing. You can read more about it in his book, Scientific Healing Affirmations which can be purchased it in stores very reasonably. The original version of the book is now in the public domain; I did a quick search and I found it readily available in pdf form. This free resource can help you to read it immediately, but I do recommend buying your own copy to use in your home longterm.

I also suggest that you read Swami Kriyananda’s book, Affirmations for self-healing, which is available to read for free on read a little bit each day and your understanding will grow.
