I Am Pregnant. What Can I Do to Help My Baby Spiritually?

Namaste, I am 3 months pregnant, and I would like to know along with kriya yoga what specific thing can I do to help my baby spiritually?

Dear Cookie,

Congratulations! This period of time in pregnancy is very, very important spiritually for both you and the child: as you obviously know!

Chanting aloud during the day and as part of your daily prayers and meditation is an excellent way to transmit high vibrations to the child. Reciting beloved mantras such as the Gayatri or Mahamitryunjaya or others (both aloud and silently) are excellent.

Play also beautiful, uplifting music in your home or environment whenever you can. Talk to your child in calm reassuring, loving tones.

Avoid loud music or places or people as much as you can. Certainly make a special effort to avoid negative emotions, fear, anger etc. etc. and people who gossip or express such emotions too readily. Treat all with respect and kindness. Do your best to serve your family, neighbors and others with a calmly quiet and mindful way.

Naturally your diet is important but that is another topic. I can only say the obvious: avoid alcohol and drugs and meat such as beef or pork, especially. Exercise of the appropriate type for a pregnant woman is helpful to prepare your body.

The devotional upliftment of your consciousness is the greatest gift you can offer this child.
