I Had a Dream of Babaji. What Does it Mean for Me and My Meditation?

Question

I started meditation 3months back. One day I experienced strange good smell for a second in meditation. I saw Mahavathar babaji in my dream. He pressed on my aagna chakra and then I started swirling. But I told him to stop due to my responsibilities and for my small kid. Then he disappeared. What this dream means? While doing meditation I can experience bright light like tunnel in the middle of my eyes? How to know whether I am doing meditation correctly?

Answer

Dear Sri,

The experiences you describe are there to encourage you in the inner path of meditation. You need not be concerned; you are doing your meditation correctly. It takes time and practice to be able to calmly enter into such experiences with faith. However, you were correct to withdraw from any experience that doesn’t feel right to you. Trust your intuition on such matters.

These experiences are generally not necessarily indicators of special divine favor. (The ego is quick to claim credit!) These are intended to encourage and help you focus in meditation and act as reassurances that you should continue. But I repeat that if any inner experience concerns you or you feel threatened, withdraw from the experience and pray for protection and guidance from God or the masters. Common sense and intuition should work together in any particular situation.

Many meditators have few if any such experiences but we each receive what is right for us spiritually.

Fear not, your divine soul is always with you.
