Is this Relationship Meant to Be?

Question

I have fallen in love with a man older than me. While I was praying to God one day for us, I lost my blood on the mandir steps. Similarly, when we met for the first time, he mysteriously cut his finger and he also lost blood. Does this mean God is giving me a sign that this is a sign that we were supposed to be together or does this mean we are bound by blood and it is meant to be?

Answer

Dear Friend,

The most important thing you can do to understand your situation, and know if something is meant to be, is to consult with God. Set aside your thoughts and preferences and meditate deeply everyday. At the end of your meditation, when you have peace in your heart, offer your question to God asking: “Am I destined to be with this person or not?” Then sit in silence and listen in your heart for what is the right answer.

Whatever you decide to do make sure you feel God in your heart first. That feeling of peace will be different than the feeling of emotion, which will have a nervous element. If it is dharmic to be with this someone, everything will fall into place between you and this person.

Symbolically the image of blood can be an indication of many things. Your own mental set of experiences influence your perceptions. There are many omens and superstitions that can be a precursor in any situation. But most are not serious spiritual laws. Take omens in the spirit of “interesting” and respect them as possible signs of nature, but always remember there is a greater force that can be called upon for guidance: the blessings and protection of God and Guru.

At the same time, start to use the Peace and Harmony prayer to pray for this person: Pray from the heart: “Lord, fill him with peace and harmony, peace and harmony.” Repeat this over and over 10 times.

Then visualize yourself in a divine light and say: “Lord, fill me with peace and harmony” for 3 times. Do this throughout the day, as many as 5 times a day.

Many blessings on your efforts searching for peace of mind and the right direction.
