I met a guy last year that I keep dreaming about. Very intense dreams that feel real, in all of them I am together with him. This has been going on for six months. I don’t see him any more (we met at work but he works for a different company). I tried to forget him but can’t and the dreams are continuing. I have found out that he is not interested in me though. So why do I keep dreaming about him and what is going on? Is he my twin flame — but why is he not interested in me?

Dear Saara, Our nightly dreams most often arise from our subconscious minds, which also contain many of our emotions, memories (even from past lifetimes), attachments, desires, likes, and dislikes. Therefore, whatever your conscious mind is telling you, such as, “I should probably forget about him, because I don’t see him anymore; I hear he is not interested in me, etc,” your subconscious mind is saying “…maybe so, but I think I might still want to be together with him!”
Thus your dreams are reflecting your emotional desires. That is why you continue to dream about him. It sounds seems that you would like to let these feelings go, which is probably a wise idea. If you are willing to try to do this and you are having trouble letting this desire go, then ask for help from God and Guru (if you have one).
Often it is difficult for us to let things go, on our own. So every time you pray or meditate, ask for help in letting this desire leave you. In this way you can get on with your life. If you are seeking a lasting spiritual relationship in the future, then try practicing Paramhansa Yogananda’s prayer/affirmation at the close of every meditation or as often as you can remember to do it:
“Heavenly Father, bless me that I choose my life companion
according to Thy law of perfect soul union.”
As for whether or not this guy is your twin flame (Yogananda never used the term “twin flame,” though he did speak of soul mates or life companions) it is always best not to give a desire like this very much energy on your own. Better to place it in God’s hands. God and Guru(s) are the best of all matchmakers!
